Shelters

This series focuses on familiar, functional structures encountered in the landscape. The shelters are presented as they exist, simple forms set against open space, where their purpose is both practical and implied.

Used for rest, protection and observation, these structures are shaped by human presence yet often stand empty. They occupy a space between use and absence, where their function remains visible but no longer active.

Rendered with a high level of control and precision, the paintings hold these moments in place. What might ordinarily be passed without notice is given time and attention, allowing the work to move between observation and something more reflective.

The shelters suggest both physical and psychological space. They offer protection, but also a place to pause, to look outward, or to withdraw. In this way, they extend beyond their function, becoming quiet points of reflection within the landscape.
