Flowers

These works continue an exploration of the relationship between objects, memory and emotional attachment. Using flowers as their subject, the paintings draw on familiar visual language while shifting the focus toward what is implied rather than directly shown.

Presented in isolation, the forms are developed with a high level of control and precision. The subjects are held in place, removed from any narrative context, allowing attention to settle on presence, surface and detail.

The titles introduce a more personal dimension. What might initially appear decorative becomes more ambiguous, suggesting ideas of attachment, absence and what remains after something has passed.
